LUNAR STUDIES AT MSATT

13 Sep 2023 by Geoff McNamara

The Moon is visible to anyone, but for MSATT students it represents the source of many geologic and morphological mysteries. In this image, the crater Fracastroius is prominent. But why is it tilted? Why is there a crack running through the middle? Does the different brightness within the crater represent different lava flows or the sprinkling of debris from some other distant impact? These are the sorts of questions students explore by studying their own images.
